MEMORY POINT

The Whiting Residence for Memory Care is owned and operated by a private company who has several memory care and senior living facilities in the state. The proposed Whiting Residence for Memory Care is a multi-use facility carefully combining residential-quality spaces with commercial spaces that are required as part of the facility operations. The facility consists of a five-story historic building, built in 1921 as the Hotel Whiting. It will provide both residential and commercial spaces for use by residents, staff and visitors. The client’s main goal is to create a unique facility, that carefully balances both residential & commercial spaces that together present a non-institutional environment that conceptually, aesthetically, and functionally helps the residents with Alzheimer’s Disease. They would like to emphasize that this multi-use facility must include design decisions based on research evidence. The facility also must be a sustainable design catering to the central Wisconsin climate with hot and humid summers and cold and snowy winters.
